Learning Support Centre

Our Learning Support Centre (LSC) has two classes – Blodau and Bumblebees. These classes support pupils’ with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The LSC has a soft play area, calming sensory room and skills area. The children’s day is very structured and bespoke to their individual needs. Below are the interventions and weekly tasks that help our children to develop their skills.

  • Attention Autism activities e.g. bucket time.
  • Sensory circuits
  • Sensory massage
  • Assessment of basic language and learning skills (ABBLS)
  • Daily opportunities to work on individual Speech and Language Programs.
  • POPAT – a program to develop phonological understanding and pronunciation of sounds.
  • Colourful semantics
  • Forest school
  • Cooking
  • Creative sessions
  • Sensory music sessions
  • Weekly visits to the local park
  • Weekly visits from Medi, our Welfare dog.
  • Tasting table – providing the children with opportunities to develop their senses through tasting, smelling, touching a variety of foods and textures.
